Dr. M. Mark Walker is an associate professor of finance at The University of Mississippi. His primary teaching and research interests include corporate finance, investments, and business valuation. He earned a B.S.C.E. degree from North Carolina State University, an M.B.A. degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University. He holds two professional designations: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Business Appraiser (CBA).

Dr. Walker is a member of Financial Executives International (FEI), the CFA Institute, the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA), the National Association of Forensic Economics (NAFE), and the National Business Valuation Group, LLC. Dr. Walker currently serves as a member of the editorial board of Business Appraisal Practice, which is published by the IBA. Dr. Walker also previously served as a member of the Board of Governors for the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA) (Member: October 2012 – June 2015;

Dr. Walker serves a financial consultant in two primary areas.

1. The valuation of small businesses and closely-held corporations. His appraisal experience includes manufacturing firms, retail stores, and professional and non-professional service businesses. Events preceding these appraisal assignments include a dissenter’s rights action, marital dissolutions, a potential sale, and the owner’s need for estate planning.

2. The estimation of economic and commercial damages (e.g., following a personal injury, wrongful death, wrongful employment termination, or breach of contract dispute).
